Design

Jovonchy Brand

Overview

The project's goal was multifaceted, and its impact on the music scene, particularly within the Filipino community in Montreal, was profound. My task was not merely to design a logo or mascot, but to create a visual representation that encapsulates the essence of the DJ's unique style, all the while projecting a sense of global inclusivity and unity that is inherent to the world of music. The result was a brand identity that has not only helped the DJ carve a unique niche in Montreal's vibrant music scene, but also strengthened the connection with his diverse audience.

Iteration

The initial sketches drew inspiration from a variety of sources, including traditional Filipino art, contemporary music iconography, and the DJ's personal style. Incorporating feedback from the DJ was an integral part of the process. Through a series of back and forth emails, we managed to refine the initial concepts, continually tweaking and adjusting to ensure the final design would align with the DJ's vision and resonate with his audience.
Settling on the final design was a process of elimination and refinement. We diligently chiseled away at the surplus, honing in on the essential elements that embodied the DJ's ethos and the vibrant spirit of his music.

Conclusion

The project's final phase involved bringing the chosen design to life in a series of mockups. This phase helped us visualize how the design elements - the logo and the mascot - would interact with various platforms, from social media to concert posters, merchandise, and more. These mockups served as a crucial tool for assessing the design's versatility and impact, ensuring its readiness to echo the DJ's unique beat to every corner of the globe.
